I´m actually planning to get into a new M-AUDIO MIDISPORT aniversary edition which now is a class-compliant product and it won´t requier any kind of midi driver because it is now a part of the new Snow Leopard Operating system.Īpple has recently released the OS X 10.6.4 update to the Mac operating system. Now, from my analisys it seems like the same thing is happening with some midi interfaces from Motu. * Although non-powered hubs may work in some situations, a powered USB hub is recommendedĪs you can see it seems like there is some kind of hardware incompatibility concerning the electrical power driven from the new aluminium macs directly to the old MIDI Interfaces. The symptoms may include the device ceasing to send MIDI data to the computer after a short time, being recognized but not sending any MIDI, or not being recognized by the computer at all. The legacy MIDI devices listed below have a hardware incompatibility with new Aluminum Mac's, including the Unibody MacBook, MacBook Pro, and iMac, and may not function properly unless connected to a USB hub*. In fact here is the post where they explain the symptons and their analisys on this issue. Then, after asking from some help on many forums arround the internet i got to this info from the guys of M-AUDIO where they explain that some of their products that were developed way before the arriving of the new aluminium Mac Generation´s are not compatible because of a hardware incompatibilty issue with the new Macs. As i was explaining in my first post i´m actually having troubles with two differents MIDI Interfaces from two different manufacters (Motu Fastlane and M-AUDIO MIDISPORT 2x2). Hi guys, i´m the one who got the first post on this discussion, and this is what i´ve found so far. My System: iMac dual core 3.06 Mac OSX 10.6.3 combo update, Pro Applications update 2010-10, Prokit Update 5.1, 4 GB RAM, Loic Pro 9.1.1, Pro Tools 8.0.4 with Mbox2, M-Audio Midisport 2x2 (Silver). I beg for some help because apple has´nt take care of this issue so far, and there´s people out there who actually work a lot with MIDI and there´s no sense on having the best platform if you can link with your external hardware. I recently tried this from a blog that i found the other day ( ![]() Now i got a brand new M-audio Midisport 2 x 2 and it worked at the beginning with some problems but finally after 3 weeks it did stop working completely. I even called Motu´s tech support and they could´nt help me with the issue. Then, at the beginning of the migration process my Motu Fastlane MIDI Interface just stopped working. At the beginning i tried to migrate my studio from an old iMac running Mac OS X 10.4.11 (which by the way used to run smoothly). Hi, i have an iMac running Mac OS X 10.6.3 and i´ve been having this midi issue since last January when i got this machine.
